To ease the process moving from Time Clock MTS to our web-based time clock, Online Time Clock MTS we’ve created a small utility to create a file containing your time clock data that can be imported into Online Time Clock MTS. This article explains how to use the Online Time Clock MTS Import File Creator.
Before You Start
Before you start make sure of the following:
- The utility can ONLY be run from a computer that has Time Clock MTS Version 6 or higher installed on it. An installer for the Online Time Clock MTS Import File Creator can be found here.
- You’ll need an activated Online Time Clock MTS account to export the data to. If you don’t already have an account you can easily Sign Up for one here.
- You’ll need the following from your Online Time Clock MTS Account. Your Account Login, the name of your Online Time Clock MTS Account Administrator login, and today’s Data Upload Token from the Import Time Clock MTS Data screen in Online Time Clock MTS.
Running the Utility
Run the utility by clicking on the Import File Creator icon in the Time Clock MTS program folder. In Windows 10 you can find this by typing “Import File Creator” into the search box on the Windows command bar. For earlier versions of Windows find it using the Start->All Programs->Time Clock MTS->Import File Creator menu. You’ll then be shown the screen below:
Selecting a Time Clock Data File to Export
Click the Browse button to choose a time clock data file to export. The utility should automatically select the time clock data file you’re currently using but you might like to change it.
Enter Your Online Time Clock MTS Account Details
You’ll need to know your Online Time Clock MTS Account Login, the Account Admin Login, and today’s Data Upload Token. The Account Login can be found by looking on the Your Account->Account Settings screen in Online Time Clock MTS. The Account Admin Login can be found on the Manage Data->Manage Logins screen and looking for the login with the “Account Administrator” security level. Today’s Data Upload Token can be found on the Manage Data->Import Time Clock MTS Data screen. See the image below.
Enter these details into the appropriate fields of the utility. When entered correctly it should look something like this:
Create the Export File
Now that you’ve selected your data file to export and entered your Online Time Clock MTS account details it’s time to create the file that can be imported into our online time clock. Click the Create Export File button. Wait until the process is complete (which could take any where from a second or two to a minute or more) and you should see a Online Time Clock MTS Import File created successfully message (see below). That’s it, you’re done. You can now head over to your Online Time Clock MTS account and import the data. There’s a page explaining that process here.
What if Something Goes Wrong
If something goes wrong with the file creation process you’ll see some sort of error message in the log area and a message suggesting you email the log and your time clock data file to us. Please do that by clicking the Copy Log to Clipboard button pasting it into an email and sending it to us. Make sure to email us your time clock data file too so we can make any fixes to it and send it back to you.
